History of Slims

The Senayan Library Management System was originally produced by SLiMS originally produced by the National Education Information and Public Relations Center. The birth of SLiMS was pioneered by developers who are almost all alumni of the Department of Library Sciences, leading universities in Indonesia. They are Hendro Wicaksono, Arie Nugraha, Wardiyono, Arif Syamsuddin, and M. Rasyid Ridho. Two other developers are Eddy Subrata (IT consultant) and Indra Sutriadi (Physics teacher). SLiMS developers are committed to continuing to develop SLiMS according to the needs of the library automation system, trying to keep up with technological development trends by implementing new features, which remain in line with the principles and standards of Library Science. To support its development going forward, Besides having a community of developers that are members of the Senayan Developer Community (SDC), SLiMS is also developed by various SLiMS user communities who come from various regions throughout Indonesia, even some communities from foreign countries. Almost every province in Indonesia has a SLiMS community.

As a software that is included in the FOSS category, SLiMS is developing very fast. Since its release in late 2007 until now, this software has been upgraded fourteen times from the Senayan3 Stable 3 system to reach the Senayan version 7. SLiMS version 7 code name This sandal is a refinement of the previous versions of SLiMS which are still considered to have various shortcomings in addition to trying to follow the latest technological features that are tailored to the needs and demands of the times. In 2009, the SLiMS application won the INAICTA (Indonesia ICT Award) held by the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkoinfo RI) for the open source software category (INAICTA, 2009). INAICTA itself is a competition for creative works of creativity and innovation in the largest ICT field in Indonesia. INAICTA is held to encourage the development of local information technology products that are supported by quality. This proves SLiMS software is a superior software and has been recognized for its superiority nationally. And here is a concept map of the development of slims:

SLiMS Community Meet Up, 2015. Malang. It is one of the historic moments, because at that time, SLiMS released the latest version, namely SLiMS 8 Akasia. This version is a continuation of the legendary version, SLiMS 7 Cendana, which for a long time has survived in the hearts of SLiMS users. Evidently, many additional module development made by community members based on that version.
